ARTIST
PROFILE
Felipe Baron-Mendoza is a Colombian artist that is steadily gaining relevance. He is a prime example of this new crop of artists that are able to do many things well. Not only is he a talented guitarist, but he writes and produces too. A graduate of Berkeley College of Music, Felipe has a solid musical background which complements his countless influences which range from Flamenco to Blues, Jazz and Colombian Folk Music. Making the jump from a supporting role as the guitarist for the alternative rock touring band "No/Hugs" to a solo career has been a natural move for this multi-talented artist. His work is already garnering significant interest from many music lovers.
The scope and range of Felipe’s productions are a testament to his talent. His work has been heard on some of the nation’s leading arts venues and concert halls, including Lincoln Center in New York City, where his arrangement of a jazz big band piece for the composer Nacho Gonzales was performed. His music has also been performed at the Manhattan School of Music, conducted by Bobby Sanabria and at the Berklee Performance Center in Boston, Massachusetts. In addition, he has been commissioned to write music for some very important organizations internationally. He was invited to compose an original string quartet for a compilation album released by Gimnasio Moderno in Bogota, Colombia, honoring the school’s legacy and impact over more than a century. Founded in 1914, the Gimnasio Moderno is considered one of the most prestigious schools in South America, whose alumni include heads of state, business leaders and highly successful artists. Among his many aspirations are to release his debut album this year and to become a social influence through his music.
